Torrey Highlands

Torrey Highlands is located directly west of Rancho Peñasquitos, north of Del Mar Mesa, east of Pacific Highlands Ranch, and south of Black Mountain Ranch. The community claims just over 1,100 acres.

Torrey Highlands is under a great deal of construction, but hopes to become a very close-knit and family-oriented community. The hub of Torrey Highlands is a 90,000 square foot village center featuring Albertsons Supermarket, Golf Etc., Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, and other retail stores and restaurants.

In addition, a new business center Plaza 56 will provide space for medical firms, biotechnology firms, along with companies in other industries.

Torrey Highlands remained undeveloped land for decades, even as surrounding communities such as Rancho Peñasquitos and Del Mar had flourished.

The area merely contained several ranches and plant nurseries throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

In 1996, the Torrey Highlands plan was approved by the San Diego City Council and San Diego City residents.

The community is continually being developed adding new housing, commercial sites, and recreation areas.

All the homes in Torrey Highlands are brand new developments. The community showcases a wide variety of single homes, apartments, and condominiums from middle-class to choices for the affluent. The area is limited to just over 2,600 housing units in accordance with the approved community plan.

Torrey Highlands also offers brand new inclusionary housing units for low-income families meeting the criteria.
