Del Mar, which means "By the Sea", is a small, affluent coastal town south of Solana Beach and north of La Jolla.

Del Mar has retained much of its quaint, rustic feel and historic buildings, while undergoing some redevelopment in its downtown district. Some features of Del Mar by the sea are its historic downtown district, city beach, Powerhouse Center Park, San Dieguito Lagoon, the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack, and Hot Air Balloon Rides

Del Mar City Beach
This city has over 2 miles of sandy shoreline. Dogs allowed unleashed on north section during Summer.

Powerhouse Center and Park
Large, open, grassy park sits on small bluff on south end of Del Mar Beach. Named after historic Powerhouse that resides on park.

Seagrove Park
A grassy area with shade trees, walking paths, on ocean bluffs with ocean view. One block from Del Mar Village.

San Dieguito Lagoon
New hiking trails on east section, this lagoon is a stopover for birds on the Pacific Flyway, migrating from Siberia to South America.

January, April and November

Del Mar Nationals Car Show
More than 2,000 classics, customs and hot rods through 1972. Live nostalgic music, model and pedal car show, vendors, and swap meet.

Del Mar National Horse Show
April - May
One of Southern Cals biggest equestrian events, the horse show features Western Week, Dressage Week, and Hunter/Jumper Week.

San Diego County Fair
Early June - Early July
Amusement rides, carnival games, vendor halls, arts and crafts exhibits, animal shows, landscaping shows, and tons of food.

Del Mar Summer Twilight Concerts
June - September
Concert goers enjoy music by local bands, held on four Sunday evenings in summer at Powerhouse Park, overlooking the ocean.
